What is your typical work schedule? Our typical hours are from 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday for most exterior and interior projects.
-
Who will be my crew?We have multiple painting teams who are all trained professionals in their craft. Most residential painting projects are a 2-3 person crew, and all crews have one Project Lead for whom is your point of contact.
-
What is your payment structure? We ask for a 50% deposit on the starting date of the project. The remainder is due within 5 days of the project's completion. We will e-mail you a quickbooks link, and ask that you make an online payment through ACH bank transfer.
-
Do you offer color consultation services?Yes, talk to your estimator about that and we can help walk you through the process.
-
Are you insured?Yes. Portland Home Painting is a DBA of Noble Fir Construction with license number 219443. https://search.ccb.state.or.us/search/
-
Do you offer a warranty on your work?We offer a 1 year labor warranty in our contracts.
-
What type of prep work do you do?In addition to cleaning your walls, we do everything from caulking small nail holes to large drywall repairs. Once the repairs are made, we will sand everything down for a smooth even finish.
-
Do I need to remove furniture and wall hangings prior to painting?Yes, all personal belongings should be removed prior to the first day of painting. However, if you do need us to move furniture or other items, we offer those services at $65/hr per laborer. Most of our painting crews are a 2-3 person team.
-
What sheen do you recommend for interiors? We recommend egg-shell or satin for most rooms. For doors and bathrooms we recommend semi-gloss for better durability.
-
Can Portland Home Painting handle small carpentry repairs prior to painting?Yes, we can handle siding repairs, replacement of trim and fascia. Old or damaged siding (like cracked, warped, or rotting boards) allows moisture to seep behind it, leading to mold, mildew, and even structural damage. Painting over it won’t stop this from happening — it’ll just cover up the problem temporarily. The estimator will assess any structural damage and provide you with a quote for additional repairs.
-
Do I need to remove outdoor furniture or other obstructions?Yes, please remove all outdoor furniture and trim hedges close to the exterior walls. If needed, we can move personal items at an hourly rate of $65/hr per laborer.
-
How do you deal with weather delays? We like to schedule most of our exterior jobs for the dry season between June and October. However, we will schedule some exterior jobs if necessary during the rainy season if there is a 4-5 day dry window.
-
Will the painting crew need access to the inside of my house? For exterior paint jobs, we will not need access to the house unless there are areas where it makes sense to paint from an exterior deck or balcony.
